The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is Kansas City’s top destination for art lovers and culturists alike. Tired of driving and walking? Rent a well-maintained, pedal bicycle through RideKC Bike, a program of BikeWalkKC! With BCycle stations located along major points of the city, riders can take in the sights and sounds of KC in 30-minute (or more!) increments. While visiting City Market, we recommend taking a walking tour to explore the entire River Market Neighborhood. In addition to quaint streets, loft apartments, eclectic shopping and fine/casual dining, River Market leads to the Town of Kansas Bridge, where romantics can bring padlocks and seal their love along select portions of Missouri River overlook fencing. With both stairs and an elevator leading to ground level, visitors can instantly connect to Kansas City’s Riverfront Heritage Trail, a bi-state, biking/pedestrian trail with panoramic views leading to and beyond Berkley Riverfront Park. Circling around River Market and making a scenic trip through downtown Kansas City all the way to Union Station, the KC Streetcar is a free mode of transportation when your feet, legs and tires have had enough. A trip to Kansas City isn’t complete without a photo next to one of the city’s most iconic sculptures, The Scout statue. Perched hilltop, overlooking downtown KC from the sprawling, 176-acre Penn Valley Park, The Scout sculpture depicts a Sioux scout on horseback and was dedicated in 1922.
